Vibration Monitoring

Why should I do vibration monitoring?

Vibration monitoring is the process of measuring and analysing mechanical vibrations in a workplace. Vibrations are caused by the movement of machinery and equipment and can have an impact on the health and safety of workers. Some of the benefits of vibration monitoring include:

  • Identifying workers who are at risk of developing hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) or whole-body vibration disease (WBVD)
  • Identifying equipment that is in poor condition and in need of maintenance or replacement
  • Identifying trends in vibration levels over time, which can indicate a developing problem
  • Providing a basis for evaluating the effectiveness of vibration control measures
