ISO Compliance
What is ISO & why does your business need it?
ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) develops globally recognised standards that help businesses build consistent, reliable, and well structured management systems. These standards provide best-practice frameworks across key areas including health and safety (ISO 45001), quality (ISO 9001), and environmental management (ISO 14001) — outlining how organisations should manage risks, document processes, monitor performance, and continually improve.
Implementing ISO standards helps your business strengthen compliance, improve safety, enhance quality, and streamline operations. It supports a culture of continuous improvement, boosts credibility with clients and stakeholders, and can increase your competitiveness when tendering or seeking preferred supplier status. Simply put, it's a clear, proven framework for running safer, more efficient, and more reliable operations.
How Safe and Sound Consultants can help
We support your business through every stage of the ISO journey — whether you're just getting started, preparing for certification, or maintaining an existing system. Our approach is practical and tailored to your organisation, so you get guidance that's relevant to your people, your processes, and your goals.
Integrated Management Systems
Managing multiple ISO standards doesn't have to be complicated. We help you bring ISO 45001, 9001, 14001, and other applicable standards together into one cohesive, streamlined management system — reducing duplication and making compliance simpler to maintain.

Psychosocial Safety (ISO 45003)
Workplace hazards aren't always physical. Psychological safety is just as critical — and when it's managed well, the benefits are measurable: higher morale, reduced absenteeism, lower injury rates, and stronger productivity.
Psychosocial hazards include bullying, harassment, excessive workload, stress, poor environmental conditions, and lack of autonomy. Addressing them takes more than surface-level gestures.
We conduct comprehensive psychosocial hazard assessments that identify task-based, social, organisational, and individual risks. Using the New Zealand Government's three-tier H&S leadership model, we apply controls ranging from supporting affected workers and building individual capability, through to addressing the underlying workplace conditions driving the hazard — targeting the most effective interventions first.
-

WorkSafe Notices
What are WorkSafe Notices & why does your business need to act?
Receiving a WorkSafe notice can feel stressful — but it's also an opportunity to strengthen your health and safety systems and get things back on track. Responding correctly and within the required timeframes is a legal obligation, and how you respond matters. Expert guidance ensures you address the issues properly, demonstrate good faith to the regulator, and make lasting improvements to your overall H&S performance.
How we can help
Our consultants work alongside you to review the notice and understand exactly what WorkSafe is requiring. From there, we help you develop the necessary actions, update your documentation, implement practical improvements, and gather the evidence WorkSafe will need to see. Our support is tailored to your specific workplace and the type of notice issued — whether that's an Improvement Notice, Prohibition Notice, or another form of regulatory action.
Once the notice is closed out, we can continue working with you to make sure the improvements are fully embedded in your business for the long term.

Heights & Harnesses — Harness Inspection & Tagging
What is a harness inspection & why does your business need it?
Safety harnesses are critical life saving equipment, but only when they're in safe, working condition. Worn, damaged, or out of date harnesses can fail when they're needed most, putting workers at serious risk and exposing your business to significant legal liability. Regular professional inspections are essential to ensure your equipment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose, and are required under New Zealand health and safety legislation
How we can help
Our consultants carry out thorough harness inspections at our premises or on-site at your workplace — whichever suits you best. Each inspection covers:
Manufacturer's labelling — confirming labels are present, legible, and within service life requirements
Hardware components — checking buckles, D-rings, connectors, and adjusters for wear, corrosion, or damage
Webbing integrity — inspecting straps for fraying, cuts, chemical damage, heat exposure, or deterioration
Following inspection, each harness is either passed and re-tagged for continued use, or failed and removed from service. You'll receive a full inspection record for every harness assessed, carried out in accordance with US 19359 standards.
