SafePlus Accredited Assessors
Safe and Sound Solutions can now offer SafePlus Assessments

What is SafePlus?

SafePlus is a new joint initiative developed by WorkSafe New Zealand, ACC and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

The SafePlus Health and Safety Performance Improvement Tool checks how well a business performs against good practice health and safety requirements, and provides advice and guidance on how to improve. It is made up of 10 health and safety requirements that have been developed from internationally-accepted good practise and tested with industry.

Why use SafePlus Assessors?

The Onsite Assessment and Advisory Service, provided by Safe and Sound Solutions, is a thorough, robust way of identifying what you are doing well. We can highlight the key things you need to improve and help you focus on what’s important. You can then invest wisely and make the biggest difference for your people.

Our assessors have met a set of core competancies to deliver SafePlus and this has been verified by the independent Accreditation Body. They must be re-accredited every three years, and be a member of one of the member organisations of the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand (HASANZ) – the umbrella organisation representing workplace health and safety professionals in New Zealand.

Why is SafePlus different?

  • SafePlus is voluntary and it defines what good health and safety looks like, above and beyond minimum compliance.
  • SafePlus is different as it uses a behavioural evaluative assessment with a heavy focus on observation and interviews with workers.
  • It is not a rating scheme or a compliance audit product. But Safe and Sound Solutions will provide your business with an illustration of its current performance as part of the assessment process. You’ll be able to use this snapshot to measure improvement over time.

Who is SafePlus for?

Any business looking to:

  • Improve Health and Safety culture
  • Understand root causes
  • Influence behaviours and performance
  • Protect workers from short- and long-term harm
  • Engage workers in health and safety issues
