The question, what is replacing WSMP and when can we see it? This is being asked regularly by clients who have used the ACC WSMP product as a benchmark for their Health and Safety Systems.

The answer is that there are two products that companies should look out for and talk to us about.

Safe+

In a nut shell ACC, MBIE and Worksafe have developed an audit/ assessment product called Safe+

There are three products on offer

• Resources and guidance that outline the 10 performance requirements that you can measure yourself against (available now www.safeplus.nz)
• Onsite assessment and advisory service that the client pays for and a Worksafe accredited auditor will undertake this review (available November 2017)
• On line assessment available mid 2018

It is anticipated that we will have two assessors approved to undertake these assessments in November 2017.

ISO 45001

International Standards Organisation (ISO) are currently upgrading the standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and it is anticipated that this will be published early 2018 and audit agencies will be completing reviews against it about mid 2018.

If your company exports or has international ties then it is quite possible that ISO45001 will become the standard expected for you to do business
